What is Search Engine Optimization?

December 11th, 2009 Steven Smith No comments

Search Engine Optimization is used to advance the position of your website in organic and or natural results on a search engine. Many people use search engines to find a specific item. Results then appear as a result of the search engine and are listed from most relevant to least relevant. When organic search results are improved, traffic volume and quality to your website is also improved.

Search engines determine these results based on their individual algorithms. The algorithms are designed to produce the most relevant websites for targeted words being searched for. These words, used by actual humans looking for a specific good or service, are referred to as Key Words. So the algorithm is the mathematical formula that the search engine uses to determine which websites are most relevant to the terms in the target search. The earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it ranks, the more searchers will visit that site. That means that if a business website is not found in the first few results for a search, that website is not going to get much traffic or business.

As a marketing strategy for increasing a website ranking or relevance, or Search Engine Optimizers consider how search engine algorithms work and how the target audience will search for a particular good or service. , (Search Engine Optimizing) efforts will involve a websites coding, presentation, content and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully indexing the site. An SEO will often include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more user friendly.

SEO has to be able to determine which keywords are best and going to be used by potential customers when they are searching for what the site has to offer. It is of little value to target a key word or phrase that has little to no relation to what the site has to offer since it will just frustrate the people searching and will not result in quality traffic to the site.

SEO became necessary because of the History of Search on the internet. When the World Wide Web first went public, search technology was very basic. Similar to a self governed library where the search directories relied heavily on the input of individual webmasters to accurately enter information regarding their websites. As business became aware of the power of internet marketing, competition for high ranking on search results led to attempting to falsely manipulate search results. This manipulation of Search Results was actually the beginning of SEO. Not very glorious, but as search ranking became so competitive, even a legitimate business website had to struggle to be found in the relevant results.

Search Engines had to become better at seeing the false manipulations to regain control and insure that every person doing a search got only the most relevant results. At one time, Yahoo was the most used Search Engine on the planet. But as the information Yahoo presented became more polluted with garbage (websites that truly were not relevant to the search) people began going elsewhere for more relevant results. Because of that, we now have Google as the dominate Search Engine giant.

Although Google is king, it knows that it can only be so as long as it continues to present good results. Billions of dollars are spent by search engines every year to continue to fine tune and adjust the algorithm to weed out the unwanted information. SEO works to make the client website rank high enough within those search results to promote the needed business traffic.

5 Simple Free Website Traffic Strategies You Don’t Want To Miss

December 10th, 2009 Christopher Stigson No comments

The biggest problem for most internet business owners is traffic. It’s easy to hire somebody to get your website set up and have somebody do your sales copy, but how on earth do you drive traffic once that website is up? That is the numbern one question most business owners ask themselves, because traffic = money and we all know that.

In this article you are going to hear about five of my favorite methods for attracting massive amounts of free traffic without any investment… You will not be using PPC, Banners or buy any more links from unrelated websites!

#1 – Articles – One of the top ways that you’ll ever hear about is article marketing for the simple reason that it still works. Article marketing will help you gain more backlinks, credibility and boost your site up in the search engine results.

#2 – Video Submission – Another method I use all the time is creating and submitting short videos to video sharing sites in order to attract the attention of my target market. A good short, valuable video can do wonders when you then tell them to go visit your website for more information.

#3 – Forum Interaction – If your niche has any kind of forum it is imperative that you are active in that forum, posting great relative content and helping people. These people are raising their hand saying they are interested in your topic when they sign-up so just help them and speak their language and you’ll be a successful forum marketer.

#4 – SEO Your Website – I can’t begin to count how many visitors I am getting from search engines every day, for free. It’s got to be thousands! So optimizing your website for some search engine love will definitely help you get more free website traffic.

#5 – Social Marketing – A great method that many people do not understand how to use is social media marketing. You should be interesting and fun, while hanging out at the biggest websites, such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and having a blog. Grab the attention of the people and redirect them to your website for great results.

These are some great examples of what you can do to attract free targeted traffic to your websites, but if you look around the internet for more information you’ll find that there is a lot more to the puzzle.

Why Are Unique Articles Important to SEO

November 2nd, 2009 Dirk Andersen No comments

Do you want to get more traffic into your sites? Well, a good way to do that is by embedding back links to your pages in articles that you write and submit to various online sites. Before you get too excited, you need to realize that this approach works spectacularly when done intelligently.

It isn’t your cash, but your time, that you will have to spend authoring your articles and then getting them into the big pool of e-zine lists and article directories out there. Yes, it is a big task but it doesn’t have to be if you acquire an article marketing submission tool and put it to work. And these are very available through the Internet, and you can get some of them without spending a dime.

Write an article with a high degree of quality in mind, and use all the knowledge you have accumulated about search engine optimization strategies to come up with a set of keywords that will effectively represent your particular bailiwick — and don’t forget that you want your article to be viewed as a rich resource for other authors. Once you have the article edited to your satisfaction, then insert the text into your article marketing tool, and launch it away

And what sort of problem can you anticipate? Suppose you send the same version of an article to every article directory? Well, this means that you are publishing duplicate text all over the Internet. All the prime search engines currently are programmed to filter duplicate text, so that, in spite of the fact that you have articles on hundreds of article websites, you may find that you only have a single back link to your site.

So what can you do? Well, continue to submit your articles but do not submit copies of an article; submit only the one unique version. This way, you will get a link for every article you publish. If you try to submit at least one unique article per week, you will, over a long period of time, accumulate many hundreds of back links to your website.

So now you are thrilled with the prospect of a flood of traffic brought in by articles you are about to write. Well, that’s good, but you should know that you may have to wait for a good chunk of time for this to manifest! Perhaps you have even tried this before, with good results, then it sort of petered out. The Internet is a ever-changing environment and sometimes what you did there for months doesn’t yield the results you got used to. This can apply to submitting articles as well.

If you want to explode your traffic and really start moving up in Google then you need article submission on your site. Click the link to see an extrodinary tool.

Top Ten Tips for SEO

October 21st, 2009 Jon Brown No comments

1. Ensure you have inserted your chosen keywords into the title tag so that search engines will know what your website is about. The title tags are found near the top of your website between the head tags. By making sure your keyword is inserted in the title you’ll greatly improve the chances of driving targeted traffic to your website

Make sure you make the title read like a headline, to grab the attention of the user, as it’s this that will show up in the results of the search.

2. Try to link pages within your website together with your chosen keyword as the anchor text. The more links you have the better.

3. Ensure the text with the title tag is used in the body of your website. Search engines do not like it when your title doesn’t appear to be related to the body.

It will also help if you put your keywords in a couple of sub-headings too. Make them stand out a bit by highlighting them or use bold wording.

4. Make sure you change the title tags on each of your websites. If search engines scan your website and see that it’s got the same title it may think all the pages are the same and therefore may not index the site.

5. Do not spam the description or keyword meta tag by stuffing meaningless keywords or even spend too much time on this tag. SEO pros all agree that these tags are not as important today as they once were. I just place my headline once within the keywords and description tags.

6. Do not link to link-farms or other search engine unfriendly neighborhoods.

7. Do not use doorway pages. Doorway pages are designed for robots only, not humans. Search engines like to index human friendly pages which contain content which is relevant to the search.

8. Include a Contact Page and Terms of Use page on your website. You can usually get a template by searching on Google. Search engine robots look for these and it makes your site look more professional.

9. For every image on your website make sure that it is described usnig the alt tag. This not only helps website users out but more importantly allows search engines to index your page.

10. Do not use a submission service or submission software. Doing so could get your site penalized or even banned. Submit to the search engines yourself.

Use this website traffic generator to get LOADS of targeted web traffic. It’s the best traffic generator on the net. Using it consistently WILL get you to the top of Google!

What Entrepreneurs Need To Know About Web Video Marketing

August 31st, 2009 Matthew Loop No comments

Web video marketing can grow your business in many ways. First of all, you get thousands of visitors from search engines if your video is search engine optimized. You also get more thousands of visitors if your video is viral. This is called organic traffic. This type of marketing uses website videos to reach millions of viewers. Instead of presenting your web content in text and images, you make your voice heard with videos. Internet marketing is cheaper than TV commercials. Saving you thousands of dollars. Also internet users can view your video many times. The cost of promoting your video on search engines is not much compared to the traffic it will generate.

Web video marketing started with small entrepreneurs way back in early 1990. Today we have seen big players providing platforms for internet video hosting. There is no doubt that the pioneers of internet marketing reaped thousands if not millions of dollars back then. Unlike the early days, there are hundreds of websites which offer free video hosting. Some of these sites pay you a sum of money if your video is generating a lot of views.

Starters will find free hosting attractive. Especially for web video marketing which costs a lot of money. The major costs come from the size of bandwidth and space needed for video hosting. Videos take a lot of space and time to load. That is why millions of web masters flock to sites like YouTube. The hosting is free. Web masters will spend time promoting their videos instead of worrying about server costs.

Some established businesses prefer to go for paid hosting. Paid web video marketing and hosting brings quick results. Yes, if you really want to be ahead of the pack, you have to pay. Entrepreneurs must be careful when going for paid services. The internet is full of hype and scams. You may find that some of these paid services are useless and not different from free services. If you subscribe for a good hosting service, chances are you will also get free marketing tools and favors.

Resources for web video marketing can be found on web master sites like SitePoint and SEO Black Hat. You will also find thousands of sites and forums where valuable marketing tips are shared. There is a lot of open source software like video makers, video editors, html editors and video uploaders. Depending on which site you join, you can also get digital information and eBooks on internet marketing.

Branding your product is also important in web video marketing. It has been proved that branding improves sales. A small entrepreneur may broadcast a good video, but people may quickly forget about it if it’s not branded. When people associate a product with a brand, it is easy for them to type that name in search engines. Facebook provides business people and companies a special page for displaying their brand. These pages attract a lot of visitors who want to be updated when a new product is released. These visitors are loyal to the brand. Members of the brand group range from a few thousand to millions depending on the popularity of the brand or owner.

It is believed that in future, most people will purchase anything from their social network profiles. This is the concept of Web 2. 0 also called open social networking. The idea behind open social networks is to let users interact across various platforms, namely Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo and Google. Web marketers must be prepared for this because it requires new approaches and strategy to internet marketing. Web video marketing included.

Your can also add links to free video playback software sites if you prefer viewer downloads instead of conversions.

Celebrities That Have Driven Hybrid Cars

July 7th, 2009 Owen Jones No comments

No, it is not true that you could rise to fame and fortune if you went and bought a hybrid car. But a hybrid car is not only a car for the rich and famous but it might be OK for you. Many people are driving hybrid cars these days including some of the most famous people on the planet like your favourite film stars. But the big question is, should you be driving a hybrid car at all?

So, are you driving anything close to a hybrid car? Well, if you are not, you can’t rub noses with some of these hybrid car-drivers. These people were very early drivers of hybrids cars. You may not see them in a hybrid vehicle when they stop next to you on Rodeo Drive, but believe me, they’ve owned a hybrid car before. Whatever, believe me or not they have been reported as owning hybrid cars in the past even if they were given them for publicity purposes.

Alicia Silverstone This star certainly isn’t clueless about the environment. She knows that owning a hybrid car has many benefits for the environment. And if the general public doesn’t have the understanding that she has, then that’s just hard luck. Alicia understands that hybrid cars are great for the environment and therefore for everyone. So Alicia Silverstone got herself a hybrid car. So she has helped promote this new technology as far as this article is concerned, which has to be a good thing.

Ellen DeGeneres Well, this funny lady not only has a great haircut, but she was driving a great hybrid car before you probably even knew about hybrid cars. She was probably smiling at you and your gas-guzzler last time she wizzed past you.

Robin Williams comical and loveable, Robin knew when he played the part of Mrs. Doubtfire that he should probably start thinking more like the forward-thinking driver that you would allow transport your children to and from school, so Robin got himself a hybrid car, and he hasn’t ever looked back since.

Ted Danson Cheers! Ted knows a (fantastic|great car when he sees one. He was definitely sober the morning he decided to go check out the new cars on the lot. He got up and bought a car that made a great deal of sense. He was making a good choice when he chose a hybrid car.

Brad Pitt What’s up? Certainly, not Brad’s petrol bills ‘cos he’s got a hybrid engine! He’s had a hybrid car, so he knows his car isn’t using too much petrol.

Prince Charles Why, surely, if it’s good enough for royalty, then it’s good enough for everyone else? That’s just how you should feel when you drive a hybrid car. You should feel proud, adorned, and admired because believe it or not, that’s just what you are when you choose to drive a hybrid vehicle. So enjoy it.

So, how do you feel? Like a million dollars? Well, you should if you are thinking of buying a hybrid vehicle and don’t worry, you won’t have your 15 minutes of fame, but you will be making a very bold statement that people will understand and many people will appreciate what you are doing and that will go on for years and years because hybrid vehicles last for a very long time

Mini-Training for ALL Newbie Affiliate Marketers: Inside Tip No. 1

May 27th, 2009 Timothy R Walls No comments

The First Baby Step

When you haven’t yet developed your own internet marketing information, software or audio-video training products, affiliate marketing is the least complicated and easiest way to start earning an income online from your work-from-home office. Don’t be fooled by guru offers that tell you a website or web page is not necessary. To be viewed as a professional affiliate marketer, one or both is absolutely essential.

The learning curve for building a web site or web page with HTML is so intimating for many affiliate newbie would-be’s, they won’t even take the First Baby Step. Here is your solution. I’ve been using Kompozer for more than 2 years, an Open Source, free to download WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Editor, considered superior to many Editors costing $97.00 or more. Ready to get started building your first web page? Download Kompozer at http://kompozer.net/download.php.

I also recommend a simple, easy to learn graphics creation software, such as Web Graphics Creator. You will, in time, be amazed at what you can do with just these two pieces of software. I create professional looking web pages, if I had to outsource, would easily cost me upwards of $1,000.00!

Your total investment in these two essential software applications? $0.00 for Kompozer. $39.95 for Web Graphics Creator. For your convenience, here is the purchase and download site: http://www.laughingbirdsoftware.com/the-web-graphics-creator.html

Your First Goal and Primary Objective

Your goal, as an affiliate marketer, is to make money with affiliate products. You must learn how to effectively drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to your web page, also called landing pages, squeeze pages, affiliate funnel pages, the intent being to capture the name and email address of your potential customers.

Question: Why would you drive traffic to an affiliate link that passes through to the seller’s product sales page? Answer: Don’t you think that’s a little like “putting the cart before the horse?”

It only stands to reason, then, that your First Goal and Major Objective is in the building of a huge potential customer base. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Do what has been time-tested and time-proven to earn a full-time income as a professional affiliate marketer.

Affiliate Marketing Trick No. 1 for Earning a Full-time Income

Why would you take the time required to write your own original Ezine or Newsletter? What is an Ezine or Newsletter in their simplest form? Both are essential content emails which you program an autoresponder to deliver to your potential customer database of opt-in subscribers.

The following define the most important purposes for developing an ezine, newsletter or mini-training course:

1. Newsletters, ezines and mini-courses may be used to develop a trust between your subscriber and you, as you deliver valuable free content to him and her.

2. The most direct route to informing your potential customers of the latest marketing strategies, software developments, audio-video training and information products is via your autoresponder email series.

3. The time you are willing to invest into the development of your original ezine, newsletter or mini-training course is pure gold. It is an investment, like gold, that accrues the interest to return dollars for products delivered into the tens of thousands of earned income per month over time.

4. Newsletters, ezines and mini-courses delivered at the correct intervals (days between delivery of your followup emails, ususally four) is the most powerful marketing strategy with which you will build and drive significant targeted traffic to your affiliate product offers.

5. The rapport and trust developed through ezines, newsletters and mini-courses are the real secret ingredient that leads to increasing sales of affiliate products. Your subscriber base is your affiliate goldmine, to which you may still be selling to 25 years into the future.

To sum it up, there is no more effective way to become a part-time or full-time affiliate income earner than to develop your own affiliate funnel pages (at least in the beginning), driving huge numbers of visitors, out of which a percentage will opt-in (subscribe), becoming your customers, as you deliver high quality information to them via ezine, newsletter or mini-course, and validate your status as a professional online marketer, well into the future.

To your good fortune and online marketing success,
