Fixing Your Xbox 360

March 2nd, 2010 Susie Martin No comments

I guess this is every gamer’s nightmare: you were just playing with your Halo 3 when you Xbox 360 completely went whacko. There’s that hope for the four green lights to go back on but then rather you get the red ring of death instead. In this situation, what must you do?

Before I start with the solution, let us delve deeper on the problem. The red ring of death is also known as the 3 red light problem. Basically, you will be able to notice that your Xbox 360 is flashing 3 red lights instead of the 4 green ones that denote that your Xbox 360 is working fine.

The 3 red light problem is often diagnosed as a general hardware failure or a core digital failure. But you can expect this problem to happen right after you get this warning. Before the RRoD strikes, your Xbox 360 will go through a freeze-up with a checkerboard or pinstripe display and a weird, static sound.

Now to the solutions, if you want to do things by the book you can always send your Xbox 360 to Microsoft to be fixed.

Of course, not all gamers are sold to this idea for practicality sake. If you decide to let Microsoft repair your Xbox 360, it can get really expensive and you’ll have to wait for weeks to get your game console back.

If your budget and desire to get back to playing halo discourages you from doing the first route, then you can always repair your Xbox 360 yourself. All that it takes to do so is a 3 red light fix repair guide. You will get a pdf file as well as other video files if you opt to go for this.

The great thing about the written instructions is that they are very easy to follow. Because of the clear and simple way that it was written, you can easy go through the steps. You can also refer to the illustrations.

If you find yourself in a rut, you can always watch the videos included which demonstrate everything step by step.

February 25th, 2010 Kathleen Gaona No comments

Purchasing an Xbox 360 isn’t just something which you don’t put careful consideration into. You have to make sure that your investment isn’t just wasted.

However, how do you fix your Xbox 360 then?

You can always send your Xbox 360 to Microsoft every time it does through a phase. But not a lot of gamers take this route. First reason is that sending your Xbox 360 to Microsoft can really put a dent in your wallet.

The most obvious reasons are that it costs so much to have Microsoft fix your Xbox 360 and it takes weeks for your console to be sent back.

The most cost efficient way to repairing your Xbox 360 is to do it yourself. You can try repairing your Xbox 360 without going through too much hassle. The very basic thing that you need is just an Xbox 360 repair guide which you buy right off the internet. And there are so many repair guides to choose from.

Before you get started with everything, you have to scrutinize the Xbox 360 repair guide that you want to purchase because not every guide can pass the cut. You have to make sure that the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It helps if the guide also has pictures and illustrations to help you through the process.

Another thing that you would want to look into is whether or not your repair guide has any videos along with the pdf file. What is so great with videos is that you can see all the steps being demonstrated. Some repair guides have websites with videos that they currently upgrade as well as online support.

Another thing, make sure that you read the fine print of your Xbox 360 repair guide. Some repair guides will only address specific problems while others will provide troubleshooting information to an entire slew of problems.

The Price Related To The Desktop Pc And What Affects Their Cost

December 14th, 2009 Andrew Johnson No comments

There is a great variety of choice when buying a desktop PC, so it is easy to get confused. Thousands of dollars can be spend on them whilst others can cost merely a few hundred. I thought it would be a good idea to educate you on the main reasons for this difference in price.

First things first then as with most products available, the price of the PC will depend on who the manufacturer is. A Sony PC running Windows will cost a lot more than say a Packard Bell running Windows even if they had the same specifications, although I am not saying you don’t pay for what you get. If you can afford it, most of the time you should.

Secondly, the price will depend on the type of operating system (OS) the PC is running. This is more down to a demand issue with Windows systems being more sought after than the second best selling OS the Macintosh. I don’t mean that the Macintosh is a poorer OS if anything it is slightly better in terms of reliability and speed but the Macintosh has developed into more of a specific OS used by graphic designers and technical engineers for drawings for example.

The third and most important factor that influences the price of the PC is the technical specification. We will now discuss a few components that can change the cost greatly.

The first component I will talk about is the Processor. The Processor is the brains of the PC; this is the component that carries out the tasks that you set it. The speed at which a Processor runs is measured in Hertz (Hz). The faster the speed of the processor the faster it can carry out tasks.

Secondly, the Graphics Card is the next component that most varies the price. Graphics cards decipher the data sent by the processor and convert it into images that are displayed on the monitor, such as a picture or the mouse cursor. Graphics cards need a lot of space (memory) to work out what the data means so they have this memory built onto the card. The more memory the card has the more expensive it can be (although this is not the only factor, you should research the graphics card a little bit more). The memory on the graphics card is measured in bytes currently the largest memory graphics cards contain 2046Mb of memory.

The last factor I will discuss is the RAM of the desktop PC. RAM stands for random access memory, also you don’t really need to remember this. The RAM is the part of the computer that gives the processor tasks to do. The more RAM that you have the more you can ask the processor to do at one time. If you can’t afford to buy a new PC the chances are that increases the amount of RAM in your system will greatly increase the speed and performance.

Cheap Data Processing Made Easy By Use Of Netbook Computers

December 2nd, 2009 Nick Cantos No comments

One inexpensive option for those shopping for a new computer is to choose one of the many netbook computers now available. The concept of these small computers is not new; however, the technology to bring their prices down has increased their popularity.

You will not find many of the items in these computers that you would normally find in a notebook or desktop computer. The first thing you may miss is the optical reading device. Instead programs are downloaded from the internet or through a USB drive.

Some of the netbooks do not even have a hard drive, but use a solid state memory device that is like the memory used in a thumb drive. This memory is more shock resistant than a hard drive as well as being smaller in size and lighter in weight, however, the memories are much smaller than that typically used in larger laptops.

If you find you need more memory than is included in the little computer, you can easily buy a 1 TB external hard drive that connects to your machine through a USB port. The normal cost for these drives is in the $100 price range.

You will not find a phone modem capability for most of the smaller computers either, although all of these computers that are now being sold are equipped with WiFi connections. For home use, you will need a wireless router, but in public, the computer can access the web at almost any hot spot.

Originally netbook computers were sold with operating systems other than the current version of windows. For quite some time Windows NT was not offered on these little computers, although it was eventually offered. Now the netbooks are being sold with a netbook version of Windows 7.

Around Christmas of 2008, the price of netbook computers dropped to under the three hundred dollar mark. Black Friday of 2009 saw the prices drop to the one hundred fifty to one hundred seventy five dollar range.

The size of a netbook computer makes them very handy for transportation. A nine inch netbook will easily fit into a woman’s purse and a nine to twelve inch computer can fit into almost any men’s briefcase.

One of the things that has made these computers even more useful is that there have been many web based applications. Google has lead the way in many of the applications, allowing documents, photos and other data to be stored online. Since hard drive space is not required and data can be accessed by anyone with a password, work can be done on a desktop computer and accessed by the netbook.

Netbooks are becoming very popular as a first computer. Their smaller size makes it easier for little hands to learn the keyboard and teens like the computers for the small size and convenient carrying. Online features give access to favorite online games, research and many other resources. When homework is prepared on the netbook, it can be printed on any printer that can be accessed through WiFi.

Revolution of Almost Everything Has Come Because Of Computers

September 28th, 2009 Zach Jacobs No comments

There have been a lot of advancements over the last 50 years and perhaps none have been more important than that of the computer. When you stop to consider it, the computer impacts everything about your life. It is a bit mind numbing.

In the beginning, the computer was a giant thing that had an entire room to its self because it took that much space. Today, you can get a computer nearly as small as you want, with a lot of Americans owning what is referred to as a laptop because they are used while sitting on your lap. In fact, people often refer to their computer as a pc, which stands for personal computer.

We have even now taken the computer and implemented it into our cell phones. This concept of a computer on our phone is absolutely amazing. It allows for so many applications of a computer while we are away from home and any other computer.

Many people today use a computer almost non-stop. They are on them all day at work and when they come home from work, they hop back on them again. So many jobs have been created because of the computer. We lost some jobs due to the computer automating things, but it has created so many more than it took away.

A pc is now a required part of school supplies at the college level. Everything that they do regarding their school work involves the computer. Some people are worried that good penmanship is a dying skill. It may be, but there is little need to have great penmanship these days as long as what they write can be read by others.

Computers have even reached the car industry. Many aspects of our car are controlled by a computer as we travel down the road. Some of those things include the traction control, anti lock brakes, air/fuel mixture and on star for those who have that.

Even restaurants have been impacted by the computer. If you go out to eat, you will notice that they have computers to input the orders so that they are not lost and also so they can keep better track of which orders need to be done when.

There is no doubt that pc’s have penetrated into nearly every home in America as well as most homes in every other country. Computers have also penetrated the work environment in nearly every industry. They have revolutionized the way that we do research, read the news, socialize, write, share pictures and many other areas. They, indeed, have been the biggest advancement in the last 50 years and it seems as though we are only at the edge of a very tall mountain and it is about to get steep.

A Short History Of Dell PCs

September 13th, 2009 Josh Radcliffe No comments

During the mid nineteen eighties Michael Dell opened a business by the name of PC’s Limited with investment worth a thousand dollars. It assumed a rare business model of supplying PCs directly to the PC users to try to better conceive the consumers wants. This view empowered Dell to dispense with the in-between distribution channels that unjustifiably drove expenses up and increased delivery times in getting the manufactured goods out into the stores. Dell empowered customers to attain customized PCs at easy on the pocket rates. All these crucial elements united to make Dell one of the main PC and laptop companies globally.

Dells simple birth can be traced to a small area in an off-campus building in the city of Austin, Texas. After succeeding to acquire a considerable advance from his family, Michael Dell soon abandoned his studies at the University of Texas at Austin to give all his time to his budding business. He concentrated essentially on trading IBM PC compatible computers produced from easily purchasable parts. Michaels conception of value addition was to serve the customers wants directly, a key belief in Dells viewpoint since its initiation.

The primary PC designed by Dell was sold in the United States stores under the label of Turbo PC and empowered people to order a customized PC straight from PC’s Limited by selecting parts and specifications from a predetermined list of preferences. In spite of the fact that other organizations had given this model a shot, Dell was the original one to succeed, earning greater than seventy million dollars in the initial year of operations. It officially altered its name to Dell in the late eighties and with new found triumph and path of a upbeat future, Dell decided to research international shores.

By the close of the early nineties, Dell had set up operations in above ten countries, with Ireland being the first. To service a increasing need, Dell attempted to alter business models by checking out wholesalers and big consumer electronics stores to sell its PCs, but soon returned to its primary model due to the average response. It commenced to make use of its web for promotion of online sales and started to develop its product range to include consumer electronics items like phones, printers, televisions and digital music players. It purchased organizations linked to the PC industry and built a new production plant resulting in quite a few tax breaks and compensations from the local government.

In the course of this time Dell turned into one of the main and generally acknowledged firms globally and was at this point included in the Fortune 500 list. Ten years after it had commenced operations, Dell altered its logo to the one now exhibited by the corporation.

Dells story however, has its portion of defamation, and weak judgments. Because of to its decreasing focus on quality items and parts, Dell observed a dive in profits and increasing complaints towards the last part of 2005. Below standard capacitors resulted in losses for Dell and a poor reputation was spreading. Shortly, Dell was subjected to many lawsuits due to its deteriorating fiscal well being and failure to report quarterly returns.

Despite a range of hardships not exclusive to a major corporation like Dell, it has been able to hang on to its status as on of the worlds most famous appreciated PCs. With many respected and low-cost brands like the Dell Inspiron, and improving user service, Dell is likely to retain its status for a fairly extensive period.

If you feel like buying a used PC be sure its a reliable and reasonably priced Dell.

How Companies Are Downsizing Their Desktops

August 11th, 2009 Kazu Oda No comments

Living in such a digital age has its perks. Could you imagine what it must have been like before the days of cell phones, computers and credit cards? I certainly can’t and I definitely wouldn’t want to. I enjoy all of my tech toys. And I am sure you do as well. We don’t drag our knuckles or live in caves anymore.

For instance, many corporations in this day and age are looking to downsize their desktops to allow for a less cumbersome and overall more efficient work experience not only for themselves but for their employees as well. In fact, if certain global tech companies were able to have their way, than desktops would quite possibly just dissappear altogether.

To me that answer is obvious. Yes… we should totally upgrade our desktops to more convenient laptops. In the past (from a financial stand point) it just didn’t make good economic sense. They were expensive and (for the most part) did not perform nearly as well as your traditional PC.

Many of these corporations are already negotiating deals with these so called “server” companies. Instead of using the current methods of most desktop PCs, these companies are promising to give corporations everything they need with what they call instant computing through the Internet.

For many of these businesses, they believe that downsizing their current desktops to these Internet based servers would not only be time efficient but also make better economic sense.

Desktops do afford such a luxury. Instead you are tied down to your home office. Another major advantage of the laptop is storage. With desktop computers, this doesn’t exist. There is no storing your computer out of sight, it’s just there. Laptops allow you to tuck them away when not in use.

However, this is not exactly a new concept in the world of technology. There have been numerous “dot com” companies that have come and gone with the promise of replacing email and certain organized software… such as calendars and lists of responsibilities. If these methods did not work in the past, than what is so different now? Perhaps they have found a way to work out all of the major flaws in this system.

But with a laptop, if you decide you want to do your report at the nearest cafe… all you have to do is slip it into your bag and off you go. Plus, it’s wonderful for taking on long car trips to keep the kids occupied with a movie or game.
