It Is Never Too Late To Say I Do Again

March 11th, 2010 Aaron Hu No comments

I know a couple that has been married for fifty years. When they first tied the knot, they must have tied it well and double knotted it because they are more in love now than they ever were. I just had to ask what their secret is since I have been married twice myself and I’m hoping this one will last forever. What I learned is actually no secret at all. In fact, it is common knowledge that most of us tend to forget or take for granted from time to time.

John and Mary were poor when they married back in the fifties. He worked his heart out in the automobile industry and she waited tables deep into the night shift. They saved their money diligently and started a family. They encountered many difficulties over the years but the one thing they held true to was their love for each other. John told me that the secret to his marital longevity was simple. Whenever he tried to imagine what his life would be like if his Mary were suddenly gone it would scare him so bad that he knew he could not bear it. Mary told me just about the same thing. She looks at their friends who are married and thanks God every day that her John is not like the other husbands who stay out late at night and put their marriages second.

John and Mary are two of a kind yet they are as different as night and day. He would say the she is his polar south and he is a magnet. They push each other away so they have to work to stay together and that always made things interesting. It is usually at this point Mary would swat him with a rolled up magazine and tell him to stop kidding around.

John and Mary recently renewed their wedding vows and had the kind of wedding Mary always wanted but could never afford. After fifty-three years of marriage, they had a unique plan in mind and threw down on a wedding that no one who attended will ever forget. With their usual charm and wit, they made their wedding something special. Even their wedding party favors were unique. My favorite bridal party favor is a rope tying two coffee mugs together, one with a picture of John and the other of Mary. The writing on the rope says the family that shakes together stays together. They do love their coffee.

The point is that it is never too late to have the wedding of which you have always dreamed. A renewal of your wedding vows is an affirmation that you are still in love with each other and life could not change that. Mary would tell you that having a child together is also a very strong bonding point and that they were truly blessed to be able to have such healthy and hale children.

No matter how old you are or how long you have been together, you can renew your vows and make a re-affirmation of your love for each other. Doing it right the second time can be just as fun and possibly more romantic that the first. You will certainly have more time to plan and design an unforgettable experience that you can share with friends and family. It is also a wonderful goal for which to save money. You have proven your love and now you can reap the rewards of having a wonderful wedding and reception, the one you wanted when you first started out together but may not have been able to afford.

The bride is the centre of attention in a marriage ceremony, thus how she appears and how she has dressed up becomes very significant. There are some key aspects that you need to consider if you want to select that ideal bridal dress to draw compliments during the wedding and to cherish the photographs of the ceremony for the days to come.

In case of bridal wear, the dependability of the shop from where you are making the purchase is important, as well as timely delivery of the dress at your doorstep. A store located in close proximity to your place must be chosen so that in case it does not fit you well, you can go to the shop without wasting much time.

A striking colour should be selected for a wedding dress that will make you appear even more attractive. It is advisable to go through catalogues of dresses in different colours before selecting one. However, style and appearance must not be given priority at the cost of comfort. A cosy and attractive dress will ensure that you can have fun during the occasion while looking good at the same time.

The Impact Of The Wedding Venue For Bridal Photography

February 16th, 2010 Mark Stevens No comments

The choice of a wedding venue is always the foremost priority for any wedding planning. The venue, be it traditional or contemporary, plays an important role in giving the wedding its distinct identity, and the selected venue finds its place in the wedding photographs.

The couple’s expectations must clearly be conveyed to the wedding photographers, whose task forms a very important part of the wedding. The bride must always be the centre of focus for the wedding photographer while he is clicking the beauty of the venue in the backdrop. A fine balance between the bridal photography and venue photography can only be achieved by an experienced photographer.

Different venues differ a lot in their features and facilities and all of them are unique in their own way. Some people go for a traditional ritualistic wedding in the church or other places of worship, while others may choose to go for something much more modern. Places of worship, with their impressive architecture, can form an excellent backdrop for bridal photography.

However, it is hard to use the insides of most venues for bridal photography. A good strategy would be to see whether there is some good-looking outdoor site around the venue that can be used for the task. It is preferable if an expert photographer can accompany you in the search of a perfect venue, because he is the one who rightly knows what makes a wedding venue good for wedding and bridal photography.

Don’t forget that the task has only just started even after selecting the venue as far as bridal photography is concerned. Most good venues have some kind of natural attractiveness about them and the next step for wedding photographers is to bring out that beauty. Thus it all boils down to the expertise of the photographer who can deliver precisely what you expect from him.

A Different Look At Bridal Photography

December 22nd, 2009 John T Wong No comments

Wedding photography includes pictures of the couple before the wedding, as well as coverage of the actual wedding ceremony and reception. The two approaches in wedding photography are traditional and photojournalistic. Traditional wedding photography consists of classically posed images. In this approach, there is much interaction with the photographer on the day of the wedding. In the photojournalistic approach, the images recorded are much more subtle with less photographer interaction. These two approaches are the two extremes of photographic styles. Most of the modern day photographers’ fall somewhere between these two styles.

There are certain things to keep in mind while hiring a photographer to cover your wedding. Every photographer possesses an individual style. There is some research you should do before you decide who you want photographing your wedding. It is recommended to start looking for the right photographer well ahead of time. If you are hiring a wedding photojournalist to cover your wedding, it is recommended that you focus more on the creative side than on the business process involved. One shouldn’t be concerned about comparing various package details or the number of prints he is going to get. Take care of all the last minute details so your photographer isn’t preoccupied with thoughts about payment on your wedding day.

Always remember NOT to give constant direction to the professional you have hired. The biggest pet peeve of wedding photographers is that they are given instructions by the brides, grooms, parents, relatives and everyone on the wedding party. No photographer likes to be directed as to what to shoot and how to do it. The more there’s third party interaction, the less creativity in the photography. Sometimes the relatives and friends are so preoccupied in instructing the photographer that they almost miss the entire wedding.

As always, trust is a major factor that affects your relationship with the photographer. You should accept the fact that you can not control everything on the wedding day. That’s another reason why you hired a professional to capture all the beautiful moments of the wedding day.

Don’t forget to feed your photographer. No matter how professional the photographer is, he needs to eat. This should be the last person you want to starve at your wedding. And try not to give your photographer a very long list of things to do. This would distract him from what you actually hired him to do.

Advice on Asking Someone Out on a Date

July 1st, 2009 Owen Jones No comments

All right, no more procrastinating, this is the time you have been waiting for and it’s up to you to turn it into reality. But, how can you have that fantasy date? You have to start from the beginning and that means to invite the person you are interested in out. Well, how should you invite a person out? Do you need to be assertive? Do you need to be coy? Perhaps you need a few tips to ask someone out?

The following are simple but essential tips you could lean on when you find it hard asking a person for a date. These tips are great to help you invite out the person you fancy. Firstly, know the right reason or reasons for asking a person out. When you know your reason(s), the right words will probably come to you.

What if the person you fancy says no? Well, don’t take a rebuttal to heart and definitely don’t expect it. Take it gracefully and perhaps you could even have a light-hearted joke ready for the occasion. However, for some people, it might be worth practising the words you want to use. To achieve this, try to keep the reasons for the date upper most in your mind.

However, the person might say “yes” and then you ought to have ideas about where to go, otherwise it looks as if you have not given it much thought. As far as you can, be ready with some ideas. See to it that you have an answer, if the person asks you why you are asking her out. You do not have to over-flatter, but you have to make sure that you make the person feel good. In this way, you can show how thoughtful you are, but never pressure anyone to go out with you.

If you did, the result would most likely be a disaster. Furthermore, don’t try to make them tell you why the outcome is negative. Furthermore, never stand anyone up. This means that when you ask someone out, you ought to mean it and you should not leave her stranded. If the person says no, do not get angry about it. Just move on and do not treat that person badly. Having some Dutch courage is certainly not a good idea.

It may just land you in an even worse position. You have to be confident naturally. The more, the better, but not on the first date. If you want to invite a person out for a date, don’t do it when she is with a circle of friends.

These are very useful recommendations and you really ought to take notice of them. They will definitely help you out if you want to go out with your special person.

How to Growing Online Dating Relationships

June 13th, 2009 Susan Pierce No comments

Just like with regular off-line friendships, online relationships need to be tended and to be allowed to grow over time. Here is some quick growing advice:

1. Take Time and Make Time: Does your online partner get in touch with you regularly? Do you do the same? Neglecting virtual meetings can be considered rude, so treat each other’s time respectfully. If that respect is lacking, it could mean that it is time to move on.

2. Communication Needs to “Feel” Right For Both of You: If one of you is too pushy about organizing a meeting, for example, that can create bad feelings. So, please, don’t rush things; just take your time to learn more about each other and develop trust.

3. Respect Each Other’s Privacy: Don’t share the other person’s email addresses or digital photos with your friends online, for example; especially if your online date sent you the information in confidence.

4. Share Special Online and Offline Enjoyable Items: when online: send online greeting cards; links to favourite websites where you can upload digital photos of your favourite pet or car; download music and video clips; post on favourite forums of mutual interest. When offline: if you’ve swapped addresses or post office boxes, send printed greeting cards and postcards and/or small items from your area (like a key chain with your state motto).

5. Share Recipes: People get tired of just talking about the weather, so a very popular subject to turn to is food. Sharing information about favourite foods and recipes will get things going and help form a point of reference; talk about your favourite cuisine and preferences. Do a search online for free recipes to share and take photos of your culinary masterpieces and share them with your online date too.

6. Bidding at Auctions: Ebay auctions sell just about everything, don’t they? There you go then, surf about and enter searches like the dates you were in high school and share nostalgic photos of old games, toys and TV shows from when you were young or when your parents or grandparents were little.

Online dating can be an educational and fun experience. So learn more about each other and have fun while youre at it. Take a cyber-stroll down ol’ memory lane together and see what’s cookin’. Tend your online relationship. Water it with care and over time it can sprout and grow.

Have a “Cool” Wedding

May 29th, 2009 Jackyln Chan No comments

Today I saw some wedding photos of one of my relatives in the Netherlands. She had a very romantic cold wedding last winter. That’s so sweet. Do you sometimes think about your dream wedding?

But personally, I love a winter wedding more, as summer is real too hot for a long and fancy wedding dress, even hotter if seeing bikini girls and swimsuit men walking around beach! How should my wedding be if my other-half also feel that having a ‘cool’ wedding is better?

Winter is a romantic season. When the weather is colder, the couples hug harder. So I would like to have my wedding in a snowing country and I would have a ‘warm’ wedding, though not physically warm, it would be emotionally ‘warm’!

Having a cold wedding in an ice house in Switzerland would be a great idea! This must be very interesting! But of course that would be too expensive to invite my relatives and friends to go there and witness us! Then my party would have no participants?

No problem! I can just make new friends there and invite them to my party! This sounds great! I can get to Switzerland to make new friends there and then invite them to witness my wedding and have a party together!

I would ask my new friends to help me organize a traditional Swiss wedding party. I believe that they can give me surprises! And I am sure that these surprises would give me a very ‘warm’ wedding party and a number of new friends!

Would these be a ‘dream-comes-true’? I don’t know, but I just know that if I want these to come true, I must have a wealthy boyfriend or I need to be wealthy first, Gee! It may be time to wake myself up from this sweet dream hah!

Will Marriage Counseling Work for You?

November 13th, 2007 Steven Ross No comments

by Steven Ross

If you’ve been considering marriage counseling, but are not sure of its effectiveness, then you will want to read this article. In it, we will discuss whether or not marriage counseling is the right course of action for you, depending upon your situation. Take this advice and consider it to make the right decision for your marital needs.

The success of marriage counseling comes down to one thing — improving communications. However, there are a lot of factors which can help or hurt communication within a marriage. For example, a couples who has poorly miscommunicated for 10 or 20 years is going to be harder to work with than a young couple who only recently started quarreling.

In addition, couples who are not willing to open up with each other are going to be less successful with marriage counseling services. Even the best marriage counselor in the world can’t help a couple, if one partner will not open up, or doesn’t want to improve the marriage. Without communication between two people, improvement is impossible.

How much you desire to resolve your conflict as a couple is how much marriage counseling can work for you. Without the proper determination to make progress, you won’t have the right attitude to do the work to repair your marriage.

The satisfaction of many different married couples has been measured, after they have received marriage counseling. When a competent marriage counselor was used, couples have almost always reported satisfactory with the services. If you let it, marriage counseling will work for you.

A marriage counselor who assists you with your current problems, as well as gives you tools to deal with future ones, is the best kind of marriage counselor to work with. If you solve your current disputes, but don’t know how to properly handle your future ones, than the counseling really has not helped your marriage.

A marriage counselor works to help both of you learn proper conflict resolution skill. So even if you have a disagreement in the future, you can work together to resolve it in a healthy way, to keep your marriage enjoyable.

Marriage counseling will work for you if you have the desire to do whatever it takes to improve the relationship in your marriage, and are both willing to open up to each other to resolve your conflicts.
