What Keywords To Choose For Better Traffic?

May 15th, 2009 Calvin McCarthy No comments

Keywords form the basis of search results. Keywords form the basis for much of the web?s advertising. Keywords are the words people will type in to a search engine. If the keywords you have chosen are the same as the ones they have put in, you come up in the search engine’s results pages. Keywords are also definitely important.

In the first place, you should consider what keywords you are interested in taking on. The best way to figure out what keywords are going to serve you the best is to put yourself in the place of your prospective clients. If they don’t know who you are but they need your services, how are they going to go about looking?

From specific brand names and model numbers to slang or industry terms used to refer to your products, the list of potential narrow keywords is usually long and plentiful. By including as many as you feel are viable, you’re increasing your chances of attracting users who are searching on those keywords. You do this by identifying what types of words are and aren’t important to you.

Popular programs are offered online where you can bid on keywords and phrases. When those words are submitted to that search engine, your text ad will appear at the top of the page. By looking at the keyword list and ad text in the ad groups that are contained in the Content Network ad inventory database, the matching system places the most relevant ads to the theme on that page.

Site owners often come up with ‘common sense looking’ key phrases, which though look obvious, may not match with the ones your buyers are using as their search term. Very often, being from within the trade narrows the vision and you tend to assume that trade-specific terms are easily understood and popularly used. Sites with various unorganized content, product lines & subject matter frequently produce reduced rankings. Be sure you have optimized content and be sure you link to others.

Search engines look for this on your site, so you might as well have one. Search engines favor sites with frequently changing, unique content so you will need to provide regular updates to your blog. A regularly updated blog will attract readers which in turn builds and increases website traffic. Search engines certainly could care less if you’re ‘the best’ or if you’re ‘number one’.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the methodology used to optimize your websites so they rank well within search engines. Keyword Density, Page Titles, and Link Popularity all play a part in where your web page appears in the search engines. Search engine algorithms are built in a way in which a website which has more relevant inbound links are ranked higher than a site with no links. The important rule here, however, is to ensure your website is linked from a website of a similar interest.

Search engines prefer websites that have relevant and regularly updated content on their pages. You can achieve fresh content yourself easily by either maintaining a blog or by writing small news articles. Search engines analyze a link based on several factors, one being the text of the link itself. If your linking text, commonly referred to as anchor text, contains relevant keywords it indicates clearly what the link is connecting to.

Optimize your website with keywords and once you have recognized yourself, you will have the freedom to include more general keywords.
