Performing a backup defines the process of creating a copy of data so that it can be recovered in case the need arises. Then there are full backups that are combined with incremental backups. This means that a full system backup of all data of a computer’s partition is done the first time and incremental scheduled backups afterwards that fit the time frame of the user.
An incremental backup consist of only adding data to the backup that was not already there from a previous backup. This save time and is much more productive than completely backing up the whole system every time.
The third way software operates is by continuous data protection. This is by far the best way to ensure you never lose almost any information! This is also called continuous backup or a real time backup. This refers to backup of data by automatically saving every change of data on the machine, essentially storing every copy of the data that a user saves.
The real time backup makes it possible to access any version of a document or file that has ever been created on the computer system. This makes it possible for any user or administrator to access previous work copies of files in case the need arises.
